GymWorld offers two competitive gymnastics pathways for young athletes in San Rafael and across Marin County:

-
GymWorld Team for those ready to compete at the USAG level
Both programs develop skill, strength, and character in equal measure.
Team-in-Training |
Pre-Competitive Gymnastics
Big dreams start here. So do strong handstands.
Team-in-Training is GymWorld's pre-competitive program — the ideal bridge between recreational gymnastics and full competitive team membership. Designed for gymnasts of all ages who are ready to level up, this program focuses on the foundations that matter most: strength, flexibility, form, and mental focus.
Athletes train 2–3 days per week in a structured yet encouraging environment where hard work and high-fives go hand in hand. Coaches identify and develop each gymnast's strengths while preparing them for the demands of competitive gymnastics — at whatever pace is right for them.
If they're ready, we're ready for them.

We Offer Two USAG-Sanctioned Competitive Pathways
Junior Olympics (JO) Program
A rigorous, structured pathway for gymnasts committed to high-level competitive gymnastics.
-
Compulsory Levels (2–5): Athletes learn and perform standardized USAG routines, building a consistent foundation of skills.
-
Optional Levels (6–10): Athletes develop individualized routines within USAG guidelines, showcasing their unique strengths and artistry.
XCel Program
A flexible and rewarding competitive pathway for gymnasts who want the excitement of competition with a more personalized approach to skill development.
-
Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum
-
Who it's for: Gymnasts who thrive with a bit more flexibility in how they train and compete
Both programs foster the same core values: commitment, sportsmanship, and the joy of being part of something bigger than yourself.

More Than a Team - A Community
At GymWorld, competitive gymnastics is about more than trophies and routines. It's about showing up, pushing through, and growing — together. Our coaches bring genuine care and expertise to every session, and our athletes leave every practice stronger than they arrived: in their bodies, their minds, and their confidence.
Whether your child is stepping into Team-in-Training for the first time or competing at Level 10, GymWorld is where Marin County gymnasts become the athletes — and people — they're meant to be.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Team-in-Training and GymWorld Team?
Team-in-Training is GymWorld's pre-competitive program, designed for gymnasts who are developing the skills and discipline needed for competitive gymnastics but are not yet competing. GymWorld Team is the full competitive program, where athletes train and compete under USAG rules through either the Junior Olympics or XCel pathways.
What age can a child join the competitive gymnastics team at GymWorld?
There is no fixed age requirement — readiness is assessed by skill level and commitment rather than age alone. Gymnasts are typically invited to Team-in-Training based on coach evaluation of their current abilities and potential.
What is the difference between Junior Olympics and XCel gymnastics?
Junior Olympics (JO) is a structured USAG pathway with defined compulsory and optional levels (2–10), focused on precise skill progression. XCel offers a more flexible competitive pathway at four levels (Bronze through Platinum), allowing gymnasts to compete with routines that better match their individual strengths.
How many days per week is the commitment for competitive gymnastics at GymWorld?
Team-in-Training requires 2–3 days per week. GymWorld Team requires 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
How do I know if my child is ready for Team-in-Training?
If your child is currently in recreational classes and showing enthusiasm for skill development, speak with their coach. GymWorld coaches regularly evaluate students and will recommend Team-in-Training when a gymnast is ready to make the leap.
Does GymWorld compete in USAG-sanctioned gymnastics competitions?
Yes. GymWorld's competitive team participates in USAG-sanctioned competitions through both the Junior Olympics and XCel programs.
Where is GymWorld located?
GymWorld is located at 3040 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael, CA 94901 — serving gymnasts and families throughout Marin County, including Novato, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Corte Madera, and Fairfax.
